Neon rings shrink toward the center circle. Tap the moment a ring lands on it — timing is everything.
I · The Grid
Between the stars hangs a lattice of light called the Grid, a woven barrier stretched over a thousand worlds. Beneath it, millions of species wake, build, argue, love and sleep without ever knowing it is there.
That is the point. A shield everyone can see is a shield someone will test.
II · The Signal
The Grid is not powered. It is played. Every world it shelters sits inside one enormous standing wave, and that wave keeps time to a single pure pulse the old engineers named the Signal.
While the Signal holds its tempo, the lattice holds. Let the beat thin, and the light thins with it. Let it stop, and the barrier simply opens.
III · What Waits Outside
They come from worlds that already went dark. Vast, patient intelligences that outlived their own suns and decided nothing else deserved to keep burning.
They have thrown fleets at the Grid. They have thrown centuries at it. None of it worked, because you cannot shatter a wave. You can only pull it out of step.
So they stopped attacking the barrier and started attacking the beat. They built wardens: machine-minds the size of moons, each one made to crowd the Signal, flood it with noise, and break its rhythm.
IV · Why Music
A signal that only defends decays. It has to be fed, and only one thing feeds it: the substance it is made of. Sound with intention. Music.
Every clean strike pushes light back into the lattice. Every one you let slip takes some out. Play well enough for long enough and the Grid does more than hold. It grows brighter, and the things outside feel it.
V · You
There is no fleet coming. No relay, no backup, no second Signal waiting to take over.
You are the Signal. Hold the beat. Keep the Grid alive.
You burned out the orbit.
